Choose your Hard (Smile and Say Cheese!)

I pick the “hard” of working on my health.. Its tough, but absolutely worth the effort. 🙂 cheese! 🙂

A picture speaks a thousand words…. And can really help you to see that you’re making progress in the work that you’re doing to improve your health… And… When you do see progress… It jacks up the motivation and keeps you moving forward with a smile…😁

This morning… The triceps and the chest really got a butt kicking… The triceps were really pumped up after that and had an impressive look which  made me smile 😃 💪🏻. After that, I put in a 15 minute HIIT workout to burn some extra fat since I kind of overdid it yesterday on the mixed nuts LOL

Working on your health some days is really hard… and it takes constant work and attention.   But remember that feeling tired, miserable, overweight, and just generally depressed is also very hard (I used to be there and I would rather take this hard!!).  … I say… Pick your hard and decide what’s worth it for you.   

For the long term, I’d rather put in the work and be healthy and have good energy and feel positive and motivated for each day.  How about you?  What “hard” are you going to choose?

I would say pick the healthy hard and… As you make progress, take pictures and notice how well you’re doing… And just know that it’s so worth it!  …Say “cheese!” 🙂

Get going to balance hormones! (Become a Fit Grandparent)

Maintaining lean body mass is an important way to maintain a healthy body composition and minimize natural aging!

 

As we age, we typically lose lean body mass and gain fat mass… It’s a natural change that occurs with our body composition. However, we can fight this by working on maintaining our lean body mass through lifting and burning fat through exercise… When our body composition is more balanced, we naturally have a stronger and more balanced signalling systems in our body which naturally keeps up our energy and our hormone balance as well.

Busy or Not, Health comes First! (Yes you!)

Tough to get going today after 2 14 hour days at work the last 2 days. Exercise is a game changer though!

Barely moving this morning after two very long and busy work days and very little sleep… Upon awakening, I felt heavy, cloudy in the head, and weighed-down today and kind of stiff and sore all over.

Despite feeling exhausted, I made myself get up and At ‘em anyways and finished a 20 minute HIIT, Lift and core prep work out for our upcoming 8-week fitness program starting July 16.   I was telling myself…”seriously, how could you contemplate not doing just a 20 minute workout”…

I made myself do it…. 20 minutes may not sound like much, but it was very challenging and I was totally worked into a sweat!    you know what, after the workout was over and i stretched a bit, came upstairs to make coffee…i noticed i was feeling completely different.   I felt lighter on my feet, my mind felt clear, I had more energy and motivation and it feels good!    Now clearly remembering this feeling will be some fuel to motivate me for the next workout tomorrow morning!  🙂

So, why push myself like this?

When you’re super busy and yet want to be healthy, it’s so important to find some type of a program that you can incorporate into your busy life… Because…  our Health is critical for everything!    If we don’t have our health, how can we accomplish things?  If we don’t have our health, how will we have motivation to focus on anything else in life such as work, family, kids or other things?  When our health is not good, we are focused only on that and ourself (for obvious reasons) and life comes to a grinding halt in so many ways!

So, whats the answer here?

This HIIT and lift program incorporates muscle building, fat burning, and core exercises plus has a very simple nutrition plan to follow. If this is something that I can incorporate working 12 to 14 hour days, then I think most people could find a way! (And I don’t like to cook either!)   There are only 4 workouts per week that are 30-40 min.   There are no excuses not to fit that in!

Sh-t Happens (Adapt and Keep Going!)

With repeated power failures, I had to get creative between power surges

It has been quite the morning so far… I was downstairs doing HIIT training and the power to my video kept turning off in the storm repeatedly… 🤔

I finally gave up on exercising in the basement to video and came upstairs where I at least had battery powered light and then got creative and did my own creation of HIIT in my kitchen 😁. I will have to save my lift section for tomorrow’s workout but that is ok💪🏻

I then realized how lucky I was that I had a full hot water tank and water pressure to allow me to have a hot shower even if there’s no power… I was careful not to use any sharp objects in the shower considering that I couldn’t see in the dark.  And then the lights/power came on just in time for me to put my make up on, blow-dry my hair and quickly make my icy superfood shake for breakfast!   LOL

Sometimes, when things don’t want to work out for you … Just remember there’s always a way to adapt, smile,  and to keep going to continue to enjoy life and to achieve your goals. Getting upset about the power would not have helped me at all, so I’m glad I was able to keep a stiff upper lip and keep going and now feel accomplished 😁

Thankfully, last night I printed all the papers and lab requisitions that I need for my many house calls today! So I’m good and prepared for my workday despite my morning challenges!!

Hindsight is 20-20 (Those Aha Moments!)

This may look like a relaxing pose, but in reality it’s very difficult! For me to sit still and relax, to breathe and get centered is a real challenge! Throughout the program I am doing now, it’s a continuous flow style of pilates and yoga which is amazing! The workout though has times when there is a need to stop moving, quiet the mind and turn those thoughts inward. These are the hardest for me to do!

You know how we have these “aha” moments when something bad happens to you and you realize that it has happened for a reason? Well I had one of those moments this morning when I realized that this type of program was exactly what I needed and my illness was what forced me into it! 😳

I am still coughing and feel rather miserable with my blocked sinuses and headache… but at least there are slight improvements each day which give me hope!  … and I am so glad to be doing a program and feeling some bit of achievement each day!  Every stretch and pushup these days helps me feel like I am doing something beneficial for my health.

I am starting a new 21-day intense nutrition reset program this coming week which is focused on cleansing, detoxifying and alkalinizing the body. I am eager for a total reset like this and I think it’s likely long overdue! I am excited about it and the potential for it to be life-changing!

Time to Make a SHIFT in Your Life? (Yes! Now Is The Time!)

The physical transformation is only a small part of what I have achieved over the last 2 years. The leaner body, 40 pounds less, more muscles, stronger and looking younger are only a small part of the transformation that has occurred…

The most amazing transformation from one picture to the next here is the inner transformation! I went from a miserable, emotionally unhealthy, crabby, no energy, could not sleep, body pain, impatient, unhappy person and became someone who is ultra positive and completely changed!  I went from someone who would get sore from walking (left), to someone who can totally crush 30 minutes of Insanity like I did this morning! (right)

I can honestly say that my emotional transformation has been the most dramatic! I am happy, have higher self esteem, a tonne of energy, am passionate about life, have more close relationships, am successful in business, and just a better person overall!

I have, in fact, got over so much childhood abuse issues now to the point where I realize how positive those childhood experiences were to shape me into the determined and passionate person I am today! Now THAT took a lot of inner work to get to this point! Without my clean eating, superfood, and fitness journey, and support of a team, this NEVER would have been a reality today! I am so thankful that I discovered Team Beachbody and I will never EVER give up on myself again! I will never go back to being that bitter and miserable person!!

Focus on Good (You Get What you Feed!)

Feed the disciplined side, starve the lazy side

We all have 2 sides inside us. We have a bad side that has the potential to be nasty, fearful, nasty and lazy. We also have a good side which has characteristics like giving, loving, abundant and disciplined.

So how do we determine which side of us will show up from day to day? Well…guess what? …It is the side of you that you live and feed most often that will grow and become more prominent! So, if you focus mostly on giving, loving, a feeling of true abundance and are disciplined…then this is the side of you that will grow and flourish! If you spend your time and focus on being angry, worried, nasty, judgemental, and lazy…then that part of your nature will expand and grow to have more of these characteristics! It’s scary when you think about it just how easy it is for the bad side to take over our thoughts and actions!

Take some time today to focus on the positive and feed your good side to help it to grow and flourish! This will improve every aspect of your life from relationships to work life and family relationships. If only more people would focus on growing their giving and loving sides…the world would be a better place!

Be Brave and Push Yourself (and get results!)

Each time you push yourself just a little outside your comfort zone, this is when we grow. It could be overcoming a fear, improving your self confidence, learning a new skill, speaking your mind, taking the leap to commit to a relationship once and for all, or something simple like with me this morning where I pushed myself to increase the amount of weight I was lifting. I was scared to but was surprised I was able to finish the set! I know that pushing myself just that little bit will make me stronger for the next workout and give me muscle gains too!! 💪🏻

Going outside the comfort zone can cause some pretty intense fear at times, but it is the only way to achieve true progress in life and to do things you never dreamed that you successfully could! It’s true! I used to hold back from trying new things and doing things that scared me, and I stayed in a non-growth and no-progress phase for many years as a result! Not any more! Face those fears, do it even if it scares you and you will be amazed at the outcome! 👍

Get Started Now (Don’t Wait!)

When it comes to health and fitness, you just gotta START.

Don’t wait until the time is right, don’t wait until after some event, or to start tomorrow…don’t wait until you have more money or until a loan is paid off. We will always have these procrastination style excuses, so might as well set them aside and get going!!

The time to start is as soon as you get the idea that you maybe should do something about your health. Drop everything and go for a walk, write down ideas for healthy meals for the week… whatever it is…just START right away as soon as the thought strikes you!  Recruit the help of a coach (like me) to keep you accountable to the promises to yourself.

Without our health, life is just not the same. Since I have committed to being healthy, every area of my life has improved… happier, more energy, more productive etc.    No more of being in pain all the time, miserable, not sleeping and just plain grouchy and unhappy.  I am proof that health and fitness, personal development, a coach to keep you accountable and superfood literally transforms you from the inside out.

Today was chest and triceps workout…day #1 of a new 56 day fitness challenge. Got it done ✅ and now time for some superfood to recover then a hot shower to get ready for a busy day!

A Little Insanity to Break the Plateau? (It works!)

47 minutes of ript insanity Shaun T week day 5 this morning felt incredible! I had to be super careful where I was jumping since the little man was up this morning and dragging everything around the workout area. Lol😂

The workout today was a combination of intense lifting combos, push-ups and with an insanity-style finale (see video)….holy crap it was a good one!

My goal with this 7-day intense challenge is to burn fat and break my plateau…I think it’s going to work!! 👍  Sometimes with a 2.5 year old grandson in the workout area, it creates challenges and demands on my time even during the workout…but I have to push through those frustrations, stay positive and keep moving forward!   Even if it’s not a perfect workout every time with interruptions, I am still getting into better shape than if I was just sitting on the couch!

Seriously, fitness and being part of accountability groups has totally changed my life! I am totally loving this😊. Message me if you would like to jump in and try out our next accountability group!
