Build on Mistakes and Challenges (and Get Stronger)

Mistakes or challenges in life and then learning from them has a way of building our strength by giving us better skills, resilience, self-confidence and power.

We face these difficulties for a reason even though that may be hard to see initially while we are in the midst of them. This has been true for me in many ways and I am still learning new lessons all the time.

Speaking of lessons, I have had some shoulder issues in the past, so wanted to share a tip with you.

A strong upper back is vital to minimize shoulder joint and shoulder girdle injuries. Many people who lift weights love the pressing and pushing exercises: bench press, incline press, decline press, dips, and overhead press which was what I used to focus on. …However, to counter balance those movements and give shoulder joint stability, pulling-type exercises need to be incorporated (see picture for example). If these moves are not done, the risk of injury is increased especially to shoulders!

So, to strengthen the upper-back/shoulder area, minimize injury potential, and boost your ability to optimize upper-body capacity, posterior upper-body pulling exercises need to be incorporated to give balance to the anterior pushing exercises most people do so much of.

This is where a professionally designed body building program comes in handy since it takes the guesswork out of the proper way to work out to keep the body and joints balanced and avoid injury. The truth is this…. You can accomplish anything if you believe in yourself…absolutely anything!! I used to doubt myself a lot and that just downright lowers your confidence and affects your happiness and productivity in the long run! Believe in yourself and what you do and you will accomplish GREAT things!

If you have a hard time believing in yourself, then it is seriously time to start doing some personal development work. A good book to read is “you are a bad ass” by Jen Sincero and another is “The compound effect” by Darren Hardy…both great books! Personal development work will totally change your life…this I can promise you. It has totally changed mine…and my daughter’s too!!

Kick Ass the Fun Way (..and Lose Weight)

Have you ever had a dream where you could fight like they do on TV in those farfetched movies? Like fly through the air and drop kick, or knock down several people in minutes with your kick ass moves? During my workout this morning, I was visualizing just that! LOL?.

It was so fun to imagine this during my whole 40 minutes of kicking, slashing and punching that I was actually laughing out loud at myself in the end! I seriously got the best workout this morning as a result and am still laughing as I type this post…?

When our workout is fun and we get creative and imaginative, it really boosts motivation for the next workout! I am officially DONE ✅ day 49 of my current 91-day fitness challenge and it feels amazing!

The bonus now is that my mind really believes I have kicked someone’s ass who deserves it. I won’t mention any names ?

Legs are the Foundation (Balance Those Hormones Too!)

Lifting heavy with those legs is HARD, but totally worth it!

Working the legs is HARD!! OMG…huffing and puffing and dripping sweat during my 40 min leg blaster workout this morning! The legs/buttocks are very big and strong muscles and are the foundation of our body.

They burn a tonne of calories all day, aid in balance, promote speed and agility in all of our other sports activities, and most of all, strong buttocks and legs protect our lower back during regular day-to-day activities including lifting.

Moving weights as part of a regular workout routine makes such a difference in the capacity of our body to do regular activities, minimize pain, helps to maintain healthy weight and promotes a sense of well-being and hormone balance. It is definitely worth the work!

Beginners Have to Start Somewhere (The Time is Now! Starts May 29)

You may be wondering a little about just how I ended up being here like this with you today.

Let me tell you a quick story about a couple years ago, I was so tired, sore, miserable and unhappy….had sore back, knees and whole body pain issues. Was overweight and living cheque to cheque and was truly in a bad place in life. .

At the time I was trying to find a way to pay bills as a single mom, eat clean and get into better shape..

I was struggling with juggling kids, grandson, work, looking after an acreage, horses, dogs and trying to get the bills paid. It felt like I had no time and certainly no energy to exercise and no money to buy the proper healthy food..

And I was getting more and more disgusted with the extra weight i was carrying around and realized just how out of shape I had become. I was frustrated with never having any money left over after payday. .

Then something really bad happened: I went outside to play with my kids on the lawn and suffered severely with body and back pain after that for weeks, and realized something had to change. I saw my doctor and every medical test was normal, which told me clearly that there was something seriously wrong with my lifestyle and habits..

Being in crappy shape like this meant I couldn’t be the kind of mom, grandma and friend I wanted to be and to be able to afford to do fun things in life like we deserved to do..

As you can imagine, I was in bad shape and desperate, but I wasn’t ready to give up on my dream of having my own business to build financial freedom and getting healthy again with the ultimate goal to be in the best shape of my life..

Then I discovered something called Team Beachbody, which has superfood and professionally designed fitness programs…and an opportunity to build financial freedom at the same time!

At that point, everything changed!

I discovered / finally figured out how to:

– Regain my energy, zest for life and be able to feel good again

I remember being so tired and sore that I could hardly get moving in the morning! Nagging knee and back pain that prevented me from doing the things that I wanted to do! It was so annoying!!

I am so thankful that I got a coach and joined a health movement that got me fired up, motivated, 40 pounds less and totally energized for life again!!

Today, I did a 25 min killer HIIT workout and felt so amazing afterwards!! Feeling so grateful today that I made the decision to get fit and healthy…totally transformed my life!!??

Take Action Today (To Achieve Quickly!)

It is what you do today that really matters. NOT what you say or think you will start doing tomorrow, next week, or after an event …it’s the actions that happen now that actually matter.

Just think how different your life would be if your decisions occurred quickly and the action started today? How would you then feel 3 months from now?

Its not just about health though….success in every area of our life depends on action in the right direction.  It could be decisions about business, relationships, finances, career, and so much more!!

Being on the fence and procrastination…both lead to the death of success. I have been there before and learned this lesson the hard way.  Don’t lose out on opportunities by waiting too long….you may lose out on something or someone forever by waiting or planning for “tomorrow”

Decide quickly, take action now and achieve quicker than you ever imagined! Action is the key! Start now and just do it!

As Tony Robbins says…we are either growing or we are dying…so lets keep moving forward and grow!

Make Yourself Proud (Its the Way to Live Happy)

Proud of myself for completing Day 27 of my 91 day fitness and nutrition challenge.

Often times we get caught up in worrying about what other people think, making other people happy, satisfying others, all of which we think will ultimately make us happy, when in reality…  We aren’t doing anything that WE want at all.

We are simply holding our own life hostage, while we begin to live our life for other people, and not for us.  We often fall onto other peoples accomplishments, and other peoples lives in general as to what we should be doing, we begin to live our lives trying to match what others are doing…  Whether it be buying a house, getting a nice vehicle, having a baby, getting married, going on a trip, being ultra fit as a runner, body builder…  Any of those things, it’s very easy to start to want another persons life, another persons timeline.

Sometimes we say to ourselves “I need to do this” …  “I should be doing that”, as we see the happiness on social media or down the street, sometimes we start to believe that the life we imagined we would have seems to be being lived by someone else, and it’s easy to fall into jealousy.

What to do about this?

The only answer I can give you, is once we stop trying to live someone else’s life and start living our own… It opens so many doors to life that we never even knew existed.  The most important thing is NOT to make other people proud, to do what you think others want, or trying to compete with a fancy car, a baby or a bikini body.  Discussing this reminds me of a quote “Don’t compare your chapter 1 to someone else’s chapter 10”.

We all get started at different times, find our passions at different times, meet the person of our dreams at different times.  The time spent not with that person, or with those moments isn’t wasted time, it’s time to grow, time to live and most importantly it’s time to make yourself proud of guess who… YOURSELF!

Why is it important to be proud of yourself?

Once we begin to be proud of who we are, it changes everything.  We stop looking for other peoples lives to mimick, and simply live our own.  I know we all struggle with this, but the best thing you can do, is begin to live your life.  It doesn’t matter who is proud of you, once you are proud of yourself…  It begins.  Life begins.

Round Shoulders, Small Waist (it’s all relative)


There is something about working on developing strong round shoulders that has a way of making the waist look smaller…hmm what a novel idea!! In the video above is a 6 way move I did while working Shoulders this morning that definitely got my shoulders burning!

Muscles give our body nice shape and tone and pumps up our metabolism all day as well…bonus! Don’t wait.. get started now!

My goal is to have flat toned abs and be rid of this puffy muffin top by the time my 91 day challenge is over…I know I can do it! I am a dang determined granny with a vision anyways…LOL
