When it comes to health and fitness, you just gotta START.
Don’t wait until the time is right, don’t wait until after some event, or to start tomorrow…don’t wait until you have more money or until a loan is paid off. We will always have these procrastination style excuses, so might as well set them aside and get going!!
The time to start is as soon as you get the idea that you maybe should do something about your health. Drop everything and go for a walk, write down ideas for healthy meals for the week… whatever it is…just START right away as soon as the thought strikes you! Recruit the help of a coach (like me) to keep you accountable to the promises to yourself.
Without our health, life is just not the same. Since I have committed to being healthy, every area of my life has improved… happier, more energy, more productive etc. No more of being in pain all the time, miserable, not sleeping and just plain grouchy and unhappy. I am proof that health and fitness, personal development, a coach to keep you accountable and superfood literally transforms you from the inside out.
Today was chest and triceps workout…day #1 of a new 56 day fitness challenge. Got it done ✅ and now time for some superfood to recover then a hot shower to get ready for a busy day!
Moved up to the BEAST segment of my 91 day fitness challenge today! (Day 71 done! ✅). I upped my weight, feeling great and after getting those shoulders, triceps and chest pumped up…decided to have some fun with it! Why not go for the muscular granny look ?
Have you ever had a vision for how you want your body to look and feel?Having a vision is very powerful. Every month on the first of the month, I visualize what I want to achieve that month and write it at the top of my workout calendar. I use power words that get me fired up and energized to kick my butt for the month. For example, my June power words are to be a: strong, determined, healthy, muscular and chiseled Granny… I find this process very motivating! 100x more motivating!
If you think about it…. telling yourself that you “should ” be working out and that you “should” be eating healthy and having to PUSH yourself into things you don’t want to do can have a de-motivating effect over time. Having an exciting vision actually PULLS you along, creates excitement …then the goals are more naturally achieved with ease and less pressure. When your our mind believes in your vision it naturally just wants to do the right things to get there!
What kind of ideas do you have to boost motivation to keep you active and healthy?
Get creative!! Let’s hear your ideas! Reply to this post…
NO QUITTING is what I had to tell myself over and over this morning when my alarm was going off at 430 am and I felt like a tonne of bricks. My head was heavy and could hardly lift it off the pillow. It truly took everything I had to get up and put on workout clothes and shoes today.
This is the beauty of home workouts…I threw my hair into a pony tail, pushed PLAY and got through the 40 min power workout the best I could and now am DONE my workout for the day! …Being this tired, I never would have made it out to a gym with all the extra travel time and inconvenience…no way… Day 69 of my current 91 day fitness challenge is complete!
All I have to do each and every day is tell myself to PUSH PLAY and with no pressure to perform or be perfect. “Just get down there, push play and do your best” is what I tell myself and it works! ??
What are you doing for your health to prevent diseases and to maintain a healthy weight? Fitness work is not easy but it is worth it. It’s not easy having a heart attack or a stroke either…my opinion is that it’s better to do the work now to prevent those from happening in the first place! It’s also not easy looking in the mirror if you are unhappy with how you look or feel. Take a few minutes to make a serious decision to optimize your health and message me to get started today!
Working the legs is HARD!! OMG…huffing and puffing and dripping sweat during my 40 min leg blaster workout this morning! The legs/buttocks are very big and strong muscles and are the foundation of our body.
They burn a tonne of calories all day, aid in balance, promote speed and agility in all of our other sports activities, and most of all, strong buttocks and legs protect our lower back during regular day-to-day activities including lifting.
Moving weights as part of a regular workout routine makes such a difference in the capacity of our body to do regular activities, minimize pain, helps to maintain healthy weight and promotes a sense of well-being and hormone balance. It is definitely worth the work!

Don’t let shit get into your mind! We don’t realize how much hype, violence and drama we let into our minds when we watch world news and TV/Movies. We may not believe that it affects us, but the truth is that it does! Our brain is interesting in the way it reacts to all of that and subconsciously affects our thoughts and behaviours.
Past memories that create negative feelings in our mind also clog up our thoughts and beliefs, affect our ability to be happy today and actually affect our feeling about ourself! This is a good reason to work hard at resolving those memories and finding ways to appreciate how they have made you who you are today. I am a prime example of this. I had a rough childhood and was in past abusive relationships. I used to feel anger and self-pity and feel totally crappy about myself but with help I learned how to reframe those experiences and use what I learned to my positive advantage. Those old habitual feelings tend to creep in once in a while, but once you have recognized them, you can quickly turn those thoughts in a positive way (practise!). No matter how bad the past was or how messed up you feel because of it, there is always a way to work at feeling better about it.
What helps me to keep my mind positive and moving forward is to AVOID letting crap into my mind, regularly feed it personal development. I learn new things and apply them to my life and have learned to feel excited and passionate every day about what I do. Seriously, nothing beats feeling excited and passionate every day! When you feel like that, where is the time to even feel bad or negative about anything!?
One of my mentors (Tony Robbins) said….”If you are not growing, you are dying”. I will never forget this and it is so true…learning and personal development is so important! The same can be said for many things such as our relationships, our businesses and more…if they are not growing, then they are dying! Scary thought!..
Ultimately, the most important thing to protect our mind and mental health and sense of well-being, is to stand guard at the door of our mind. Don’t let the crap in, and work every day at getting the crap out from the past and reframing your thinking. This process is important to maintain positivity, motivation, interest in and a zest for life like no other. If you are having a hard time doing this yourself, it is understandable. I recruited help from a coach to help me to reframe myself and my thinking, and I recommend this for you if you are having difficulty as well.
My other mentor (the late Jim Rohn) suggested that our mind is like a garden full of weeds. Work at getting the weeds out (may take a lot of work at first), but then (after all that work) maintain it well by plucking the weeds out as soon as they come up.
Have a great day! Fill your mind with personal growth, development and learn new things. Get the shit out of there, keep it out and enjoy life NOW!
The use of multiple types of sets such as combo sets, giant sets, single sets, progressive sets, drop sets, forces sets etc keeps your muscle wondering and confused…and therefore developing nicely!?
The effectiveness of professionally designed programs that incorporate all of these types of sets has been proven to get you the results you want.
The more effective the muscle training, the more the muscles will evenly develop. Developed and conditioned muscles burn more calories, are functionally stronger and also give us stronger joints, less prone to injury and less pain. It’s a win win to work those muscles properly!
By using a professionally designed program, it gives a strategy to follow to ensure that edge that will get the body you are looking for! Takes the guessing completely out of the picture by showing you exactly what to do each day to get those results!
This morning for me was back and biceps work …Gosh, it feels so awesome to be lifting these days! …day 17 of current 91 day core and beast challenge is complete!
How many of us would benefit from having a smaller waist size? I think the majority feel that it would be a good idea… especially those over 40! Gosh…being over 40, these pounds seem to slip onto the waistline so easily!!
One thing is for sure…taking time to do core work at least a couple times a week definitely makes a difference. By working those core muscles, they become smaller, stronger and more compact (thus a smaller waist size) it has definitely made a difference for me! The moves I am doing in the video are part of a 16 min Core workout that I do at least twice per week. It was very hard to start with, but I have been doing this for 3 months now and my core is already MUCH stronger!
The side benefits of having a strong core is that you are stronger and better in other sports and activities (everything from hockey, to running to horseback riding!) and have a stronger back and less prone to injury! My back pain is almost non-existent since working on my core regularly!
If you have never tried doing a cardio workout with weights…wow, it’s very challenging! In this particular workout, you have to do repetitive moves quickly and then hold the move for 10 seconds and repeat… this gets those muscle groups fatigued really fast…especially with the push-ups segment!
If there is one thing I have learned in my quest for a happier and healthier life, in order to be good at things and to succeed, I need to be willing to push myself to do what most people won’t. I need to be willing to persist for a long time before I see results. It was an interesting concept to realize and to apply to myself. It has proven itself true though.
As hard as it is some days, just gotta keep hitting “play” and pushing myself to do my best and to do better all the time. This determination and self-discipline can pull you through those rough days.
I had a poor sleep last night and cannot stop yawning, but still managed to push play and get ‘er done. So glad I pushed myself. Time goes by far too fast…so need to keep at it! The time will pass anyways so might as well make it count for something!
Seriously! When I started on my health and fitness journey 2 years ago, I could not even do more than a couple push-ups on my knees or more than a few minutes of jumping jacks before being out of breath! It’s amazing what our body can achieve if we push it to do more each day. I guess that is the power of the compound effect. You may not think that each and every workout makes a difference in the long run, but in fact they DO! Every snack choice (an apple instead of a Hershey bar) and every decision we make towards a healthier choice (no matter how small or seemingly insignificant it is) every single day does matter!
Choose to be active instead of sitting on the couch. Choose to do a workout instead of wasting time scrolling social media. Choose a garden salad with roasted chicken instead of a burger at the restaurant. Just by making these better choices each and every day and adding superfoods to my diet, I have dropped 42 pounds and am feeling the strongest and healthiest that I have in my life! Now as a grandmother, I can call myself the MMA Granny and I have earned it! ?
The compound effect of each and every choice we make each and every day really does matter. Keep that in mind for today and as you think about what you will do to be healthier in the next month! We all mess up once in awhile since we are human after all, but if we mess up too often, that has a compound effect in the wrong direction!
